Forge Fitness ("we", "us", "our") is committed to protecting your personal information. This policy explains what data we collect, how we use it, and your rights as a user.

1. Data We Collect

Forge Fitness collects minimal data necessary to provide the service:

Profile data you provide: First name, fitness goal, training experience, equipment, time availability, and motivational context. Stored locally on your device.
Workout and health data: Logged workouts, body weight, progress photos, HRV readings, and nutrition entries. Stored locally on your device only — never transmitted to our servers.
Payment information: Handled entirely by Stripe. We never see or store your card details.
Usage data: Anonymous API requests sent to generate your workouts and coaching messages. These include your fitness goal, experience level, and equipment — not your name or identifying details.

2. How We Use Your Data

To generate personalized workout plans and coaching messages via the Anthropic Claude API
To process subscription payments via Stripe
To maintain your streak, history, and preferences across sessions (stored locally)
We do not sell your data to third parties
We do not use your data for advertising

3. Local Storage

Most of your data — including workouts, weight logs, progress photos, HRV readings, and meal logs — is stored exclusively in your browser's localStorage. This means:

Your data stays on your device and is not uploaded to our servers
Clearing your browser data or switching devices will remove this data
We recommend using the "Export my data" feature in your Profile to back up your progress

4. Third-Party Services

We use the following third-party services that may process data:

Anthropic (Claude API): Used to generate workout plans and coaching messages. Anthropic's privacy policy applies to data sent to their API. We send only anonymized fitness preference data (goal, experience, equipment) — never your name or contact details. See: anthropic.com/privacy
Stripe: Used for subscription billing. Stripe processes payment information under their own privacy policy and PCI compliance. We receive only a subscription status confirmation. See: stripe.com/privacy
Google Fonts: Fonts are loaded from Google's CDN, which may log your IP address. See: policies.google.com/privacy

5. Cookies

We use a minimal number of cookies:

forge_consent: Stores your cookie consent preference. Expires after 1 year.
Stripe cookies: Set by Stripe during checkout for fraud prevention. We do not control these.

We do not use tracking, analytics, or advertising cookies.

6. Your Rights (GDPR / CCPA)

Depending on your location, you may have the right to:

Access: Request a copy of data we hold about you
Delete: Request deletion of your account and associated data
Export: Download your locally stored data using the "Export my data" feature in your Profile
Opt out: Cancel your subscription at any time through Stripe's billing portal

7. Data Retention

Local device data: Retained until you clear your browser storage or reset the app
Stripe subscription data: Retained per Stripe's data retention policies
API logs: Not retained — requests are processed and discarded

8. Children's Privacy

Forge Fitness is not directed to individuals under the age of 16. We do not knowingly collect data from children. If you believe a child has provided us with personal information, contact us immediately.

9. Security

We implement industry-standard security practices including HTTPS, security headers (HSTS, X-Content-Type-Options, X-Frame-Options), rate limiting on API endpoints, and input sanitization. Your payment data is never stored on our servers.

10. Changes to This Policy

We may update this policy from time to time. We will notify you of significant changes by updating the date at the top of this page. Continued use of the app after changes constitutes acceptance of the updated policy.
